Judith A. Gueldner's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Judith A. Gueldner, age 72 of Charleston, passed away at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois on Saturday, November 29, 2014. The Memorial Service honoring and celebrating her life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston with Reverend Vance Oliver officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening for one hour prior to the service. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, thoughtful donations in her honor be made to American Lung Association, the Coles County Humane Society or to a charity of the donor's preference. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Judy was born on July 4, 1942 in Danville, Illinois, the only child of the late Ted and Gerry (Montgomery) Brinkman. She married Gary Gueldner on August 16, 1964 in Danville and just this year they celebrated 50 years of marriage and friendship. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Jeff Gueldner of Olathe, Kansas and three granddaughters, Cammie, Gracen and Sarah Beth Gueldner, also of Olathe.Judy attained her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University and taught in the Alton and Mattoon School Districts before her 19 year tenure with the Charleston School District as a sixth grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School. Since her retirement in 1999, Judy was spotted daily at the "South Side Café" sharing a cup of coffee with the "coffee girls" . She adored dogs, especially her Australian Labradoodle, Lacy, and was a huge Kansas Jayhawks basketball fan. Judy adored her granddaughters and often wished they lived closer so that she could see them more often. She will be missed by her family and friends.
