Juanita M. Landrus' Obituary
MATTOON, IL - Juanita Maxine Landrus, age 88 of Mattoon and formerly of Charleston, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon. The Memorial Service honoring and celebrating her life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston with Reverend Roy Lineberry officiating. A Private Inurnment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held for one hour prior to the service Friday evening at the funeral home. It is requested that in lieu of flowers thoughtful donations in her honor be made to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Juanita was born on May 26, 1925 in Charleston to the late Cornelius and Fern (Lang) Fudge. She was married to Harold Oliver Landrus and he preceded her in death in May of 1990. She is survived by a daughter, Debra Dixon of Mattoon; four grandchildren, Heather Landrus of Mahomet, IL, Derrick Landrus and wife Vanesa of Charleston, Lance Dixon and wife Jacque of Effingham, IL and Seth Dixon and wife Abby of Champaign, IL; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Fudge of Paris, IL and a daughter-in-law, Janie Landrus of Charleston. Juanita was also preceded in death by two sons, Mickey Landrus and Denny Landrus. Juanita was a long time employee of Eastern Illinois University where she managed the Panther Lair in the Student Union Building. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Charleston Chapter No. 1175. Juanita was more than an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals - she even kept track of all the team and player stats! She also enjoyed watching her soap operas and usually had a pet cat or two. Juanita had a straightforward approach to life which was appreciated and her grandchildren always brightened her life especially when they were in a sporting event where she could cheer them on - she was their biggest fan!
