Jim Crable's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Jim Crable, age 76 of Hutton Township and formerly of Paris, Illinois, went to live with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Services honoring and celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston with Pastor Ray Finney officiating. Burial, with Military Rites by the Honor Guard of the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592 will follow in Salisbury Cemetery in Hutton Township, Coles County, Illinois. Visitation for family and friends will be held this evening (Thursday) from 6:00 - 8:00 at the funeral chapel. It is requested that memorials in his honor be made to Salisbury Church. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or services or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920. Jim was born December 15, 1934 in Paris, Illinois, a son of the late Frank and Thelma (Horton) Crable. He married Rosemary (Rose) Cushman on August 27, 1954 in Denver, Colorado and they have shared fifty-six years of marriage. In addition to Rose, Jim leaves two children, Jim Crable, Jr. of Neoga, Illinois and Vicki S. Martinez and husband Nick of Charleston; six grandchildren, Dustin Reuther of Martinsville, Missouri, Marcus Reuther of Kansas City, Missouri, Alexandra Martinez, Joey Martinez and McKayla Martinez, all of Charleston, Mackenzie Crable of Mattoon; a sister-in-law, Penny Haddock of Ashmore; and several nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a daughter, Candi Ann Crable and two brothers, Don Crable and Allen Crable. Jim was a United States Air Force Veteran who served his country with pride and honor. He was employed as a Sales Rep for Hazel Vinyl located in Washington, Missouri until he retired in 1978. He moved his family to Charleston and accepted a position as Manager of Kirchner Building Center's Mattoon store, a position he held and enjoyed until just a couple of years ago. Jim was a faithful member of the Salisbury Church in Hutton - he loved his church and his church family. He was also a life member of the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592 and the Charleston Moose Lodge #1388.
