Janet B. Warpenburg's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Janet B. Warpenburg, age 80 of Charleston, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 while at her Life's Journey Sr. Living residence. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral chapel with Pastor Rich Knofsky officiating. Services will also be conducted by the Charleston VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to the Charleston VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or services, or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Janet was born August 25, 1935 in Charleston, IL a daughter of the late Jasper and Kathryn (Strader) Brookins. She married Richard A. Warpenburg on September 6, 1957 in Charleston and they shared 45 years of marriage prior to his death on April 25, 2003. Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Sue A. Perrine (Ron Kingery) of Effingham, IL, Edward J. Warpenburg (Pamela) of Charleston and John D. Warpenburg (Nancy) of Orlando, FL; 5 grandchildren, Erin Chester (Doyle) of Charleston, Nick Perrine (Kristin) of Monticello, IL, Joshua Warpenburg (Katie) of Huntersville, NC, Roy Stancil (Jen) of Matthews, NC and Lisa Stancil of Ocoee, FL; 6 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer Brookins (Jane) of Whittington, IL, Freeman Brookins (Darlene) of Charleston; a sister, Cleta Webster of Charleston; a sister-in-law, Jackie Brookins of Tuscola; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Brookins and a brother-in-law, Dean Webster. Janet was a graduate of Charleston High School and furthered her education at Eastern Illinois University. She worked at the Adkins Nursing Home in Charleston before accepting a position at Charleston National Bank and later with Bank of America as a personal banker. Janet was a dedicated member of the Charleston VFW Ladies Auxiliary and was extremely involved with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, holding most offices at both the local and district levels. Janet also kept busy with crafts and needlework projects, playing and calling BINGO, tending her vegetable garden and canning its produce, as PTA president, as a den mother for Cub Scouts, or volunteering to help with the latest Ladies Auxiliary project. She possessed a kind and generous spirit, was outgoing and fun to be with, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She provided a good home for her own family and was a devoted mother who took an interest in her children and their activities and a grandmother who relished spending time with her grandchildren. She leaves her family and friends with memories of happy times to be treasured.Click to view Janet's memorial video.
