James H. ""Dick"" Ogden's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - James Hiram Ogden, age 82 of Mattoon and formerly of Charleston, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Palm Terrace in Mattoon. A Graveside Service honoring and celebrating his life followed by Inurnment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Davis Cemetery in Pesotum, Illinois. Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston is assisting the family with arrangements. James, who was affectionately known as Dick, was born on January 20, 1932 in Colfax Township in Champaign County a son of the late James Willis and Leona (Huffman) Ogden. He is survived by a brother, Kenneth "Pete" Ogden and wife Beverly of Charleston along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 8 brothers and 7 sisters. Dick was always friendly and extremely courteous. He enjoyed sharing a good meal and drinking soda pop and was always very helpful in the dining room at his Palm Terrace home. He was always very caring and took an interest in other family members and how they were doing. Holidays were special to Dick because he got to spend them with those he loved. He was never demanding and always appreciative for any little thing which was gifted to him. He was a simple sweet man who was dearly loved.
