Iris Kathleen Myers' Obituary
Iris Kathleen Myers, age 90, of Mattoon, IL, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL. She was born on October 17, 1935, in Montgomery County, IL, to Jesse and Esther (Hatfill) Loew.
She is survived by her brother, Jerry (Patsy) Loew of Effingham, IL; her sister-in-law, Carol Loew of Biloxi, MS; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings: Kenneth Loew, Charles Loew, Nelson Loew, Sherry Lukens, and Evelyn Wall.
Iris was a devoted member of Old State Road Christian Church, where her quiet faith and steady presence were deeply appreciated. She was also an active member of the Charleston VFW Ladies Auxiliary and could often be found helping in the kitchen at VFW events, always ready to lend a hand wherever it was needed.
Iris worked for 39 years at Brown Shoe Company in both Charleston, MO, and Charleston, IL. She later worked at the Charleston Holiday Inn as a maid and generously assisted many elderly individuals in their homes, handling chores and household duties with kindness and care. Her strong work ethic and dependable nature were well known to all who worked alongside her.
A talented cook, Iris was especially known for her homemade bread, which she baked for her family with love. She enjoyed Bingo, needlework, embroidery, and crochet, hobbies that filled her life with simple joy and allowed her to share handmade gifts with those she cared about.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, with Pastor Michael Stewart officiating, at Mound Cemetery, 1285 W. State St., Charleston, IL.
