She was also preceded in death by one brother, Harold McGahey of Bradenton, Florida. Ione was a homemaker. She truly loved her home and enjoyed living independently until the age of 100. It was always immaculate, well kept and filled with warmth and love, which made you feel happy and welcome. She enjoyed playing her organ which she did mostly for her own pleasure. She excelled in working daily newspaper crossword puzzles and maintained a keen interest in world news and current events. Ione was a wonderful cook, always having delicious baked goodies ready for your tasting, and was considered to be an avid "green thumb" gardener, and produced many beautiful plants and flower gardens that she so tenderly cared for and enjoyed. She and Ed shared a love for the outdoors, traveling, fishing and camping. She also especially enjoyed going out to eat with friends and family. Ione dearly loved her family and she exhibited her love and devotion for them on a daily basis - she considered them to be a blessing in her life. Ione was a devoted and faithful Christian who lived her daily life according to God's word and attended church regularly with her family. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church of Charleston since 1940 where she served as a teacher for the children's Sunday School Department and for Bible School programs. Ione was a blessing to her family and friends and she leaves with them an abundance of treasured memories.Click to view family memorial video.
