Helen D. Wright's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Helen Wright of Charleston, attained the milestone of age 100 before entering her heavenly home on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at her Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehab residence. There will be no public visitation and a Graveside Memorial Service and Inurnment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Mound Cemetery with Pastor Tom Skinner officiating. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to the Activity Fund at Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehab or to the Coles County Humane Society. Gifts may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Helen was born on July 1, 1913 in Manchester, Tennessee the daughter of Cloyd and Susan (Neese) Moses. She worked at GE in Mattoon for a time but for most of her working years she utilized her skills as a cook for the former Owl Drug Store located on the Charleston Square, the Charleston School District and the Rathskeller located in the MLK Union at Eastern Illinois University. Helen was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and was a former member of the Women of the Moose-Charleston Chapter #1175. Helen had a passion for working - not only at her job but in her yard - there was not another who could groom it to her satisfaction. She loved nature and acknowledged the beauty of God's creation - her bird feeders were kept filled and she enjoyed watching the different varieties which they attracted. Helen had a straightforward approach to life accompanied by a grand sense of humor which made her a joy to be around. She had an extremely generous heart and will truly be missed by her loving family which includes her great-niece, Tina Williams and husband Stan of Charleston; two great-great-nieces and their families, Sarah Howell, husband Michael and sons, Gavin Cain and Hayden Howell, all of Charleston and Nancy Ervin, husband Ryan and son Lincoln Ervin, all of Effingham, Illinois; a great-great nephew, Spencer Williams of Savoy, Illinois and a great niece and great nephew in Tennessee, Deborah Moses and Jeffrey Moses. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Eunice Hutts; three brothers, John, Ernest and Howard Moses; nephews, Kenneth, Donald and Max Moses; a great-nephew Greg Moses; and a great-great-great-nephew, Pierson Howell.
