Harry R. Waggle's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Harry Raymond Waggle, age 81 of Charleston, was called to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 while at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015 at the funeral chapel with Pastor Curt Weaver officiating. Burial, with Military Rites conducted by the Charleston VFW Honor Guard, will follow in the Janesville Cemetery located in Pleasant Grove Township, southwest of Charleston. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, thoughtful donations in his honor be made to his family to assist with final expenses, or to East Harrison Street Church of God. Gifts may be left during the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Harry was born on August 18, 1933 in Jasper County, Illinois, a son of the late Arthur and Florence (Wells) Waggle. He married Viola Braden on August 30, 1957 and they became the parents of 4 children. He later married Ella Lawyer on March 18, 1984 and she preceded him in death on February 11, 2012. He is survived by his four loving and devoted children, Patty Keck and husband Dave of Trowbrige, IL, Ed Waggle and wife Martha of Mattoon, Cindy Apple and husband Travis of Scottsdale, AZ and Paula Snider and husband Kevin of Lerna, IL; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; 3 sisters, Ruth (Con) Tutewiler of Charleston, Helen (Bill) Pankey and Lois Franklin of Charleston; a brother, George (Diane) Waggle of Greenup, IL; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews and their families. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nora Hupp and a brother, Al Waggle. Harry was a self-employed and respected businessman, owning and operating Harry's Electric Service in the Charleston area for 40 years. He faithfully served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War and was recently honored to make a trip on one of the Honor Flights with daughter Patty. Harry was a faithful and devoted member of the East Harrison Street Church of God, where he served on the church council, was a deacon, and always volunteered to help. He was previously a member of the Charleston Moose Lodge #1388, the Mattoon American Legion Post 88, and the Charleston Coon Hunters Club. Harry enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing and camping and was known to be one of the best at frying up the "catch of the day" . He enjoyed bluegrass music, singing karaoke, and putting on his boots for an evening of country and western dancing. He resided at Heritage Woods of Charleston and was quite proud of his title as "Heritage Woods Wii Bowling Champion" . Harry was extremely family oriented and truly looked forward to family events and activities. He especially enjoyed spending many memorable hours with his grandchildren, often sharing his fishing skills while creating fond memories. Harry was kind and gracious and a man of good character. He enjoyed many long and enduring friendships and was blessed with a loving family who will always cherish their many fond memories of special times shared.Click to view Family Memorial Video.
