Gloria Mae Scott's Obituary
Gloria Mae Scott, age 75, of Westfield, IL, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Gibson Hospice Center in Terre Haute, IN. She was born on September 28, 1949, in Martinsville, IL, to Robert and Thelma (Hall) Stephen.
On December 18, 1994, Gloria married the love of her life, Steve Scott, in Edgar County. Together, they shared 21 beautiful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure until Steve’s passing on October 26, 2015.
Gloria is survived by her son, Michael (Michele) Lowery; her grandchild, Bobbi Lowery; her two great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Tucker; her siblings, Neoma Mullen, Larry Stephen, Rick (Franda) Newkirk, and Sandra (Larry) Ledermann; her nephews, Robert (Jennifer) Mullen and Brad (Pam) Mullen; her niece, Marcy (Michael) Mitchell; and special additions to the family through marriage: nephews Doug, Dan, and Kevin Krabel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Mildred Stephen; her husband; her daughter Michelle Lynn Lowery; her infant sister Linda Stephen; her nephews Deric and Chad Mullen; and her longtime sister-in-law, Carolyn Bisby, who remained a beloved part of the family throughout her life.
After graduating high school, Gloria pursued college for three years and later built a fulfilling career as a secretary at Eastern Illinois University, where she worked for many years before retiring. Her strong work ethic and kind spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Gloria was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Martinsville, IL, and proudly served with the Eastern Star. Her life was marked by creativity, compassion, and a sense of adventure. She had a deep love for horseback riding, found joy in crafting and sewing, and was an enthusiastic collector of Longaberger baskets. Some of her most treasured memories were made on the back of a Harley-Davidson, riding alongside her beloved Steve.
A Celebration of Gloria's life will be held at a later date.
