Gerald ""Jady"" Morgan's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Gerald E. Morgan of rural Charleston and formerly of Westfield, IL, was 74 years of age when Jesus took him home on Thursday, August 6, 2015. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the funeral chapel with Reverends Doug Ashby and Clifford Shaw officiating. Inurnment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to the University of Illinois Foundation to assist families of those diagnosed with leukemia. Gifts may be left during the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Gerald, more affectionately known as "Jady" , was born on July 18, 1941 in St. Louis County, MO, a son of the Reverend Allen and Vesta (Grayson) Morgan. He married Carol Elston on May 24, 1960 at the East Harrison Street Church of God in Charleston. He is survived by Carol, his loving wife and best friend of 55 years; his mother, Vesta Morgan of Paris, IL; 4 children, Christa Gard and husband Terry of Martinsville, IL, Gerald Morgan II and wife Jennie of Westfield, IL, Carina Winkleblack and husband Paul and Clinton Morgan and wife Tamara, all of Ashmore, IL; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Harriett Ramsey and Ava (Jim) Gilbert, all of Paris, IL; 3 brothers, David (Barbara) Morgan of Paris, Roger (Peggie) Morgan of Princeton, IL and Marvin (Martha) Morgan of Philo, IL; numerous nieces and nephews and their families; and his special feline friend and companion, Taz. Gerald was preceded in death by his father and a dear brother-in-law, Jim Ramsey. Jady was a 1959 graduate of Charleston High School. He was employed by several hog farms which included Biggs Farms in Westfield, H & S Swine in Moweaqua and Walk Stock Farms in Neoga. In 2001 he started his own carpentry business and since that time has been the owner and operator of GEM Carpentry. Jady held membership in the NRA and was a great fan of NASCAR, often cheering for his favorite drivers, Danica Patrick and Jeff Gordon. He was fond of old western movies, especially those which starred John Wayne. If given a choice, Jady would prefer fly fishing over any other activity. He was an avid and passionate fisherman and traveled to his favorite fishing destination at Montauk State Park in Missouri whenever he could. Jady worked hard and was a good provider for his family. He was a loving husband and father, a doting grandfather, and a faithful friend to many. Many fond memories are shared by those who knew and loved him.Click to view Jady's memorial video.
