Genevieve Elaine Sewell Ferenc, age 66, of Charleston, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 27, 2025, surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life.
Genevieve was born on May 7, 1959, in Belleville, Illinois, to James Robert and Yvonne Appel. Her life was a radiant example of kindness, compassion, grace, and boundless creativity. On January 30, 2008, she married Robert Ferenc in Charleston, Illinois. Together, they grew stronger with each passing year and stood by one another through thick and thin. For 17 beautiful years, they shared not only a home but a bond that inspired everyone fortunate enough to know them.
Genevieve is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Ferenc, and their six children: Bobbi Ferenc, Jessica Ferenc, Kerry Jay Townely, Nicole Kristine Sewell, and Valerie Ann Sewell and her partner, Allan Gene Wilson. She also leaves behind three dear siblings: Donnie Wayne Sewell, James Robert Sewell, and Donna Jene Sewell, along with several grandchildren who filled her world with endless joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jay Donald “J.D.” Jackson, and one sister.
A proud graduate of Lake Land College in Mattoon, Illinois, Genevieve earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Desktop Publishing. She later retired from Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, where her dedication and work ethic shone brightly in the materials management department.
To all who knew her, Genevieve was a creative soul with a heart as generous as it was gentle. She had a gift for seeing beauty where others saw the ordinary, repurposing everyday things into treasures that reflected her warmth and imagination. She loved crafting dollhouses, reading stories that sparked her curiosity, and exploring the world through technology with a spark no one could replace.
Genevieve’s laughter could light up a room, and her love knew no boundaries. She had a way of making everyone feel special—whether through a kind word, a handmade gift, or simply the joy of her presence. Her home was a sanctuary of comfort. Her signature hugs and unwavering love are an unbreakable thread that will always tie her family together.
Her quiet strength, creativity, and pure love touched countless lives. Though her physical presence has left this world, her spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. Genevieve will never be forgotten. Her love remains an eternal echo in the lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
