Gary L. Barr's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Gary L. Barr, age 71 of rural Charleston, entered his Heavenly Home on Thursday, October 22, 2015 while in the comfort of his Hutton Township residence and with his loving and devoted family at his side. Graveside Services, honoring and celebrating his life, will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Liberty Cemetery located southeast of Charleston in Hutton Township, with Reverend Roy Lineberry and Pastor Tom Skinner officiating. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, thoughtful donations in his honor be made to Shop With A Cop or the Charleston Providence Baptist Church. Gifts may be left during the graveside service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Gary was born May 1, 1944 in Charleston, IL to the late George "Freddie" and Irma (Heddins) Barr. He married Judy Cougill on December 31, 1964 and they celebrated 50 years of marriage this past December. Gary is survived by his loving and devoted wife Judy; two children, Kari Nutt and husband Andy of Bettendorf, IA and Kirby Barr and wife Katie of Charleston; four grandchildren, Kelly Barr, Emily Nutt, Kayla Nutt and Gunner Barr; a sister, Janet Will and husband Gary of Waukegan, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant half brother and a nephew, Brent McCullough II. Gary was a supervisor at ITW Hi-Cone and retired after 33 years of employment. He attended the Charleston Providence Baptist Church and also held membership in the NRA. For many years Gary bred and showed German Shepherd dogs - a hobby he truly enjoyed. Other hobbies included woodworking and cheering for his beloved Chicago Cubs - he was an avid fan. Gary's family and friends appreciated his straightforward manner and approach to life - he was to the point and you always knew where you stood. He was a wonderful and loving husband and father, and a proud grandfather who adored his grandchildren. He was dearly loved in return and his family will treasure the many good times shared as they remember and reflect upon their many wonderful memories.
