Evelyn F. Witwer's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Evelyn F. Witwer, age 97 of Las Vegas, NV and formerly of Charleston, IL, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015 in Las Vegas. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday with Pastor Chuck Trent officiating. Burial will follow in Union (Greasy Point) Cemetery, located near Rardin, IL. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Gifts may be left during the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Evelyn was born on December 6, 1917 in Rardin, IL, a daughter of the late Lonzo and Celesta (McCallister) Morgan. She married Wallace Witwer on June 19, 1939 at her grandparent's home near Arcola, IL and they celebrated 40 years of marriage prior to his death on August 11, 1980. She is survived by their children, Terry Witwer and wife Sue of Lake St. Louis, MO, Keith Witwer and wife Stephanie of Pine Island, MN, and Sharon Larson and husband Steven of Las Vegas, NV formerly of Charleston; 8 grandchildren, Evelyn (Lance) Waitz, Kevin Witwer, Daniel (Jeannine) Witwer, Scott Krebsbach and Patricia, Joshua (Kristina) Leege, Justin (Kystal) Leege, Matt (Mahisha) Witwer, Medora Witwer; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Morgan; two sisters, Kathleen Mills and Mildred Danneberger; a daughter, Melinda Dee Witwer; and a granddaughter, Melissa Ann Krebsbach. Evelyn received her teaching certificate from Eastern Illinois State Teacher's College and taught at the Rardin School from 1937 - 1939 and later in Galion, OH. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Charleston and a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star in Waverly, IA. Evelyn was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She also was a fan of professional basketball and football and enjoyed watching a good game. She was devoted to her family and created for them a warm and loving home. She was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will always be fondly remembered and dearly loved.
