Estel ""Jack"" Tuggle's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Estel ""Jack"" Tuggle, age 85 of Charleston, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2011 at his home. A Graveside Memorial Service honoring and celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011 at Mound Cemetery in Charleston with Reverend Russell Stark officiating. Military Services will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592. There will be no Visitation. It is requested that memorial gifts in his honor be made to the Disabled American Veterans. Gifts may be left at the Graveside Service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920. Estel, fondly known to many as ""Jack"", was born in Mattoon, Illinois on April 19, 1926. He married Faye Reedy on September 11, 1943 and they celebrated nearly sixty-five years of marriage prior to her death in August of 2008. He is survived by a daughter and two sons, Connie Heath and husband Frosty of Charleston, Parry Tuggle of Morris, Illinois, Darren Tuggle and wife Michelle of Chicago; six grandchildren and their families, Mark Hutchison, Teresa Campbell, Patricia Wilson, Kayla Tuggle, Kyle Tuggle and Quinton Tuggle; three step-grandchildren, Kelly Heath, Jamie Barry and Lindsay Heath; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beth Evans and husband Jim of Gaithersburg, Maryland. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Stricklan and Sylvia (McCabe) Tuggle Stricklan; and a sister, Myrna Jedlicka. Jack was a decorated United States Marine Corps Veteran having proudly served his country in the Korean War. He lived the motto ""Once a Marine - Always A Marine"" and considered himself a true patriot who loved his country. In his lifetime he was employed as a farm hand in the Monticello and Dalton City areas, by WEIC Radio and retired in 1998 from Moore Business Forms as a Customer Service Representative. Jack was an avid reader, locksmith, a handyman and enjoyed spending time with his canine friend and companion, DeeDee.
