Edna F. McDaniel's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Edna Florence McDaniel, age 94 of Charleston, passed away at her Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehab home on Saturday, November 10, 2012. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Adams Funeral Chapel with Father Ryan McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. There will be no public visitation. It is requested that memorial gifts be made to her family to assist with final expenses. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the funeral service, or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920. Edna was born on November 13, 1917 in Charleston and was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Lily (Jenkins) Clayton. She married Raymond ""Micky"" McDaniel in 1936 and they enjoyed sixty years of friendship and marriage prior to his death on January 5, 1997. She is survived by her son, Larry McDaniel and wife Donella of Charleston; two grandchildren, Ryan L. McDaniel and wife Michele of Charleston and Dr. Lacie R. Shanks and husband Matt of Bloomington, Illinois. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth McKee and three brothers, Pud, Dee and Charlie Clayton. Edna was employed at the Charleston Brown Shoe Company until 1977 when her love for children encouraged her to begin a daycare in her home which she operated until 1990. Edna attended the former Pilgrim Holiness Church in Charleston and her church activities along with her church family were very important to her. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly.
