Douglas R. Stoltz's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Douglas R. Stoltz, age 58 of Charleston, passed away at Carle Foundation Hospital on Thursday, March 31, 2016 following a courageous five year battle with cancer. There will be no public visitation or services. It is requested that thoughtful donations in Doug's honor be made to Denise Stoltz to be used to benefit his grandchildren. Gifts may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Doug was born November 4, 1957 in Mt. Carmel, IL, a son of Eugene and Frances (Odom) Stoltz. He married Denise Werden on June 9, 1979 in Ashmore, IL. Left to cherish his memory is Denise, his loving and devoted wife of 36 years; three children, Jonathan Stoltz and wife Courtney of Avon, IN, Justin Stoltz and wife Melanie, currently stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany, Kimberly Ward and husband James of Chicago; two grandchildren, Paisley and Ryder Stoltz; his mother, Frances Stoltz of Charleston; a sister, Kay Cougill and husband Jerry of Braidwood, IL; a brother, Mark Stoltz and wife Barb of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Doug was a 1975 graduate of Charleston High School and attained an Associate's Degree from Lake Land College. He was employed by the State of Illinois as a Registered Land Surveyor before accepting a position with the City of Charleston as Assistant Public Works Director, a position he retired from in 2011. Doug enjoyed camping and was an avid computer buff. Spending quality time with his family, especially the grandchildren, was his favorite pastime; and his dog "Chance" also held a special place in his heart. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
