Diana Lynn Weaver's Obituary
Diana Lynn Weaver, age 77, of Charleston, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Charleston Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Charleston, IL.
Born on March 30, 1948, in Huntington, IN, Diana was the daughter of Lloyd and Annabelle (Rice) Boxell. She was engaged to her devoted longtime partner, Roy Gharst, who preceded her in death in July 2024. Their bond was one built on love, laughter, and enduring companionship.
She is survived by her two daughters, Julie (Doug) Miller and Michelle (Greg) Drake, both of Charleston, IL; her seven beloved grandchildren, Katie (Brandon) Faust, Kristin Briggs, Kennedy Cox, Peyton Cox, Blakely (Dean) Reyes, Blaine (Faith) Drake, and Braden Drake; and three great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy: Maddix Briggs, Gray Faust, and Emery Faust. Diana is also survived by five siblings, Cinda (Gary) Schultz, Dalean (Eldon) Dettmer, Dale (Deb) Boxell, Jerry Boxell, and Mark Boxell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Annabelle Boxell, and her fiancé, Roy Gharst.
Diane lived a life defined by care, compassion, and quiet strength. After graduating high school, she pursued her passion for helping others by earning her beautician’s license and running her own beauty shop in Indiana. She later shifted her focus to caring for children, opening a successful in-home daycare that she operated for many years in Charleston. Her nurturing spirit left a lasting mark on every child who entered her home, and she remained fondly remembered by many of those families long after her retirement.
A true homebody at heart, Diane found the greatest joy in the simple moments—spending time with her family, caring for her grandchildren, and keeping a warm and welcoming home. She was happiest surrounded by loved ones, and her deep devotion to her family was evident in all she did.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brock Ashley officiating. Burial will take place afterward at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston.
