Deloris R. Stanford's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Deloris Ruth Stanford, age 92 of Charleston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 while at her Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home residence in Mattoon. Graveside Services, honoring and celebrating her life, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston with Pastor Curt Weaver officiating. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home Activity Program. Gifts may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Deloris was born on November 29, 1922 in Fairgrange, IL, a daughter of the late Willis P. and Laura (DeWitt) Dean. She is survived by 3 loving and devoted daughters, Linda Stanford Wisthuff and husband Don of Austin, TX, Brenda Adams and husband Cory of Lagos, Portugal, and Cathy Thomas and husband Mark of Charleston; 3 grandchildren, Deena Stanford and husband Troy Hooper of Austin, Laura Thomas and fiancé Aaron Kapp of Lebanon, IL and Brett Thomas of Charleston; a great-grandchild, Wesley Dean Hooper; and a brother, Edgar Dean of Memphis, TN. Deloris was preceded in death by a son, Fred Stanford and 2 brothers, Dale and Wesley Dean. Deloris was a graduate of Charleston High School. She was employed by the Coles County Circuit Clerk's office located in the Courthouse as well as E.I.U. where she spent 11 years as secretary for the Elementary Education Dept. She had attended both Central Christian Church and First Christian Church in Charleston. Deloris loved to socialize and be around others. Her social activities included traveling, playing cards and sharing a meal with family or friends. Her family meant the world to her and she dearly loved her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her and they will forever treasure their many fond memories.
