Dean Webster's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Dean Webster, age 77 of Charleston, entered his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 in the comfort of his home and in the loving presence of his family. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Salisbury Church located at 2350 Madison Avenue in Charleston. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating his life will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the church with Pastor Scott Sims officiating. His cremated remains will later be inurned at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to the Coles County Animal Shelter. Gifts may be left during the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Donald Dean Webster was born October 5, 1938 in rural Charleston, IL to the late Donald S. and Margaret (Millage) Webster. He married Cleta Brookins on August 13, 1961 and they have been blessed with nearly 55 years of marriage and friendship. In addition to his loving and devoted wife Cleta, left to cherish his memory are three children, Deena Powell and husband Randy of Springfield, IL, Scott Webster of Virden, IL and Marty Webster of Charleston; four grandchildren, Dustin (Elodie) Powell, Jordan (Megan) Powell, Chris Webster and Dawson Webster; three great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Spencer Dean, and Kinley Powell; a sister, Sandra Kay (Clyde) Cole of Hurdland, MO; a half-brother, Gary (Karen) Parker of Algonquin, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Cohoon. Dean was a graduating member of Charleston High School Class of 1956 and honorably served his country with the United States Army. Many will remember Dean as manager of the Charleston IGA, where he worked for more than 20 years. Prior to his retirement he served as assistant manager at the Charleston Wilb Walkers Supermarket. In his early years Dean enjoyed outdoor hobbies such as hunting and fishing and throughout the years has enjoyed the canine friendship of many dogs including his current dog, Foxy. Dean was always a sports fan - while in high school he was sports editor for the Trojan Trumpet school newspaper and enjoyed watching sporting events. He especially followed Illini and Chicago teams but none were more beloved than his Chicago Cubs. Dean has been a lifelong avid fan and those attending his visitation or service are welcome to wear their favorite Chicago Cubs attire. For Dean, God and family came before all else. He was a faithful and devoted member of Salisbury Church in Charleston, a loving husband to Cleta, an encouraging and supportive father to Deena, Scott and Marty, and a grandfather who loved and enjoyed his grandchildren immensely. Dean has blessed his family and friends with precious memories to cherish.
