Dean Nees' Obituary
COOKS MILLS, IL - Orville Dean Nees, Jr, age 64 of Cooks Mills and formerly of Charleston, went to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 while in the comforting presence of his loving family. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Funeral Service, honoring and celebrating his life, will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, immediately following the visitation. Casual attire is requested and those attending are encouraged to wear a shirt representing their favorite team, interest or hobby. Donations in his honor may be made to the Carmen Ross Foundation and left at the visitation/service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Dean was born August 20, 1955 in Charleston, the son of Orville Dean and Gloria (Neal) Nees, Sr. He married Tomi Eaton on August 30, 1991 in Charleston. Dean is survived by Tomi, his loving and devoted wife of 28 years; five children, Anthony Nees and wife Alicia of Merritt Island, Florida, Crystal Plummer and husband Avery of Martinsville, Illinois, Elizabeth Fulcher and husband Bear of South Daytona, Florida, Caleb Nees of Casey, Illinois and Gary Nees and wife Dayna of Newman, Illinois. Dean was also known as "Gramps" to his eight grandchildren, Skye Hart and fiancé Stephen Vaughn, Ewan Nees, Vaughn Nees, Brayden VanGilder, Emma Plummer, Jillian Fulcher, Trey Fulcher and Austin Nees. Dean is also survived by three brothers, Darrell (Susie) Nees and Samuel (Erin) Eddinger III, all of Charleston and Edward (Angela) Eddinger of Marshall, Illinois; four sisters, Nancy Rayburn of Paris, Illinois, and Linda Walters, Christy (Toby) Franklin and Anna Epperson and partner Rick Gabbard, all of Charleston; along with a large extended family including nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Orville Dean Nees, Sr.; his mother and stepfather, Samuel Eddinger, Jr. and Gloria Eddinger; a daughter, Paige Nees, and an uncle, Ernie Neal. Dean was a graduate of Charleston High School and for many years a self-employed trucker. He was currently employed with Adams Memorials as a stone setter. Most of Dean's hobbies and activities were centered round the outdoors which he truly loved. He spent many hours tending to his flower and vegetable gardens and working in his yard. He also enjoyed a day of fishing or just tinkering around home. He was blessed with the mechanical ability to fix just about anything and had a passion for working on old cars or motorcycles. Music was a big part of Dean's life. His "original copy" record album collection earned him the nickname of "Mr. Vinyl" , and he was a guitarist and singer, but a better harmonica player! He enjoyed watching sports and cheering for his favorite teams which included the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears. Dean was an avid Illini fan who never missed a game - because they were usually being recorded! Dean was dearly loved by his family and many friends who now hold treasured memories of the many fond and special times they have shared throughout the years. Funeral ServiceThe funeral service, celebrating the life of Dean Nees was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Adams Funeral Chapel with Pastor Kenny Hughes officiating.
