Dale Owen's Obituary
OAKLAND, IL - Dale Owen, age 70 of Oakland, IL, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015 while at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating his life will begin at Noon on Saturday, immediately following the visitation, with Reverend Robert Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Janesville Cemetery, located southwest of Charleston in Pleasant Grove Township. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to Donna Owen to assist with final and future expenses. Gifts may be left on the memorial table during the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Thomas Dale Owen was born on December 6, 1944 in Hindsboro, IL, a son of the late Raymond and Doris Owen. He married Donna (McNary) Brown on October 16, 1982 in Charleston and they have celebrated 32 years of marriage. In addition to Donna he is survived by two stepsons, Chris Brown of Kankakee, IL and Clint Brown of Marshall, IL; 7 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Robinson. Dale was last employed by SSC Services and formerly worked for ADM Grain Company in Oakland. Many will also remember him from the Star Service Station formerly located on Madison Avenue in Charleston where he assisted customers for 18 years. Dale also found time to help local farmers - a job he truly enjoyed. Dale was a hard worker and always kept busy. He had a kind heart and a desire to help others - all you had to do was ask and Dale would be there to lend a hand. He always had a smile and a kind word to share and he maintained several close friendships, especially with former classmates. His family and friends are blessed with many fond memories and he will truly be missed.Click to view Dale's memorial video.
