CHARLESTON, IL - Daisy Irene Wright, age 99 of Charleston, passed away at her Arbor Rose of Charleston home on Monday, May 27, 2019. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Funeral Service, honoring and celebrating her life, will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral chapel with Pastor Mary Wright officiating. Interment will be in the Ashmore Cemetery in Ashmore, Illinois. Donations in her honor may be made to Arbor Rose of Charleston or Charleston First Presbyterian Church and left at the visitation/service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Irene, as she was affectionately known, was born September 11, 1919 in Charleston, Illinois, to the late Arthur and Ethel (Anderson) Woodyard. She married Robert Wright on November 16, 1947 and they celebrated 47 years of marriage prior to his death on January 15, 1995. Left to cherish many wonderful memories is her loving daughter, Ann Hilgendorf and husband Steve and grandson, Jacob Hilgendorf and wife Megan, all of Tuscola, Illinois along with several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Betty Woodyard. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joel Hilgendorf; a brother, Russell Woodyard; and a sister, Hazel Bennett. Irene was a graduate of Westfield High School and was employed as a clerk at Benedicts located on the north side of the Charleston Square. She was a member of Charleston First Presbyterian Church and a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star Ashmore Chapter #670. Irene enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles but her life was centered round her family. She treasured the mother/daughter relationship that she and Ann shared and was overjoyed to be a loving and devoted grandmother to Jacob and Joel. Irene's family was truly blessed with the best! FUNERAL SERVICEThe Service of Witness to the Resurrection Celebrating the life of Irene Wright was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston with Pastor Mary Wright officiating. Mr. Bart Rettberg served as pianist providing prelude and postlude selections as well as special music which included ""Sweet Hour of Prayer"", ""Let Us Ever Walk With Jesus"" and accompanied the congregational hymn of ""Amazing Grace"". Burial followed in the Ashmore Cemetery located in Ashmore, Illinois. Steve Hilgendorf, Jacob Hilgendorf, Jack Appleby and Bryce Reifsteck served as pallbearers.
