Cora was born on December 31, 1935 in Mattoon, Illinois, one of ten children born to the late Hiram and Mary Pearl (Bartlett) Weaver. She was working at Snappy Service when she met Elmer Eugene Rogers. They were married on November 20, 1954 and they enjoyed 52 wonderful years of marriage and friendship prior to his death on July 9, 2007. Cora is survived by a daughter, Carol Elliott and husband Greg of Loxa, Illinois; 7 grandchildren, Michelle Richey and husband Troy of Charleston, Blythe Bateman and Herb McElwee III and his wife Jessica, all of Mattoon, Amanda Baylee Elliott and her boyfriend Cameron Etnire of Charleston, Stacie Winings of Ludlow, Illinois, Chad Pearcy and wife Teresa and Ralph Pearcy II and wife Kami, all of Rantoul; 8 great-grandchildren, Kennedy Bateman, Korbin Bateman, Arianna Winings, Devon Winings, Mariah Pearcy, David Winings, Kaydense Stutzman and Jaxsen Pearcy; a sister, Rosemary (Rosie) Hildrebrand and husband Bud of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews. Cora was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Pearcy along with 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Cora was employed in the Packing Department of the Charleston Brown Shoe Company for 22 years. Many will remember her from the 12 years she was employed at the Charleston McDonalds - the dining area was always neat and tidy on her watch and you were always warmly greeted and welcomed with a smile. Cora was always devoted to helping others and following her move to Cougill Apartments she volunteered as a resident assistant. She became a member of the Women of the Moose, Charleston Chapter #1175 in 1964 and was a life member of the Charleston VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Cora loved to play cards and her family soon learned to watch her closely - it was all in fun but she might attempt to cheat once in a while. She and Gene were avid Bingo players and wherever there was a game - they were usually there. Being a homemaker and creating a warm and loving home for her family is what pleased Cora most. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she always treasured their many visits. Cora enjoyed her collection of angels and bells and was also quite proud of her laundry skills. No matter what the stain, she would work her magic and it would always disappear. Cora was a giving individual with a big heart and a desire to help others. She was devoted to the family she dearly loved and she will be truly missed - but there are many fond memories which will forever be treasured.
