Clyde E. Burrus, III's Obituary
LERNA, IL - Clyde Edward Burrus, III, age 68 of Lerna and formerly of Charleston, entered his Heavenly Home on Saturday, April 15, 2017. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Services honoring and celebrating his life will begin at noon on Friday with Pastor Scott Sims officiating. Burial, with Military Services conducted by the combined honor guard of the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592 and the Charleston American Legion Post 93, will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to the Coles County Animal Shelter. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or services or mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Clyde was born April 19, 1948 in Manchester, New Hampshire, a son of the late Clyde and Lois (Nees) Burrus, Jr. He is survived by his sister, Susie Nees and husband Darrell of Charleston, and his brother, Steve Burrus and wife Billie of Mason, Ohio; an uncle, Lowell Burrus and wife June of Peru, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews and their families. Also left to cherish his memory is his long time devoted friend and former wife of many years, Tricia Bayles and her family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Siemer. Clyde was a 1966 graduate of Charleston High School. He honorably served his country with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and his fellow residents of the Charleston community as a fireman with the Charleston Fire Department. Clyde was a member of the Salisbury Church family. Clyde was an avid collector and enjoyed going to flea markets in search of his next bargain. His love for things with wheels led him to many car shows and outings on his motorcycle. Clyde also liked spending time in his garden and kitchen and had a soft spot for animals. Clyde will always be remembered for his independent nature and doing things his way. His family and close friends will hold dear their many fond memories.
