Charles E. Rardin's Obituary
LOXA, IL - Charles Edgar Rardin, age 63 of Loxa and formerly of Charleston, Illinois, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home and with loving family at his side. Friends and family may gather to remember and celebrate his life from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive in Charleston. A private inurnment will take place later at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. Memorials in his honor may be made to a charity of the donor's preference.
Charlie was born, October 20, 1957 in Charleston, Illinois, a son of the late Charles Vernon and Betty (Walsh) Rardin. He married his childhood sweetheart and his soulmate, Sue Strong on June 11, 1976 in Charleston and she preceded him in death on March 24, 2015. Surviving is his loving and devoted daughter, Jenifer Rardin of Loxa, Illinois; a sister, Sharon Shobe and husband Loren of Toledo, Illinois; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and Sue's family who was his extended family. He also leaves a dear friend, Bambi Harris of Mattoon. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Vernon Rardin; two sisters, Cathy Rardin and Beverly (Rardin) Craig; and a special friend and loving companion, Barbara Rogers.
Charlie utilized his skills as a welder and forklift operator for more than 20 years as an employee of Trailmobile in Charleston. After the plant closed, he later went to work in the warehouse at Justrite Manufacturing in Mattoon. Charlie was personable and outgoing and made friends wherever he went. He was an active member of the Charleston Elks, and a former member of the Charleston Moose Lodge #1388, the Charleston Sportsmans Club, and the Frontiers Club.
Charlie loved life and enjoyed living and experiencing it with those he cared about. He earned the title of "Good Time Charlie" and when you were with him, he made sure you shared in those good times as well. The outdoors was his playground where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and boating. Charlie loved not only his canine friends and companions but Jenifer's dogs as well, calling them his "granddogs". Charlie's life was enriched by the many friendships he enjoyed but he was truly blessed with a loving and devoted daughter. Jenifer was his pride and joy and he loved her immensely and unconditionally. He will be truly missed by his family and his circle of many friends.
