Charles Duane Dean's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Charles Duane Dean, age 74 of Charleston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 while at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Services honoring and celebrating his life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral chapel with Pastor Sangram Kodavatikanti officiating. Burial, with Military Services conducted by the Honor Guard of the Mattoon VFW Post 4325, will follow in Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon. Donations in his honor may be made to the Mattoon VFW Post 4325 Honor Guard and may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or services or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920. Charlie, known as Duane to many, was born August 9, 1941 near Mattoon in Coles County, IL. The son of the late Charles R. and Wanda (Honn) Dean, he married Karin Puchalla on August 31, 1970 in Chicago, IL. He and Karin shared nearly 46 years of marriage. In addition to his wife Karin, his sons, Randy Dean of Lake Forest, CA and Michael Dean of Chicago, IL; his two sisters, Sherri Dean of Mattoon and Letha Dean of Pleasant Plains, IL; and several nieces are left to cherish his memory. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Sheila and Debbie Dean and by his half-sister, Winona Howell. Charlie was a 1959 graduate of Mattoon High School and attained his Bachelor's Degree in Business Accounting in 1971 from Eastern Illinois University. He went on to become a Certified Public Accountant. Charlie was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran stationed in Germany. While living in the Chicago area, he worked as an internal auditor in the insurance industry. Charlie was a good husband, father and provider for his family. He and Karin enjoyed traveling and spending their winters in Tucson. Click to view Family Memorial Video.
