CHARLESTON, IL - Carolyn Gail (Easley) McKee, age 77 of Charleston, passed from this life on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Gowin Parc in Mattoon, Illinois. In accordance with her wishes her earthly body will be cremated. There will be no public visitation and private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers it would be appreciated if memorial gifts in her honor be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer's Association. Gifts may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920.Gail was born on October 27, 1933 to the late Gale H. and Doris H. (Bones) Easley and was raised in Clay City, Illinois. She leaves behind her husband of fifty-six years, Donald L. McKee of Charleston; a son, Kevin McKee of Mattoon, Illinois and a daughter, Cheryl McKee of Charleston; three granddaughters who also mourn her passing, Cara Todd and Kathryn McKee, both of Charleston and Lauren McKee of Dekalb, Illinois; and a brother, Gerald Easley of Gold Hill, Oregon.Gail was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University. She was president of the Delta Zeta Sorority, Gamma Nu Chapter as a college student and continued her involvement with the sorority upon returning to Charleston as the College Chapter Director and State Province Director. She began her teaching career in the Petersburg and Athens, Illinois school districts and was later employed by the Oakland and Kansas school districts until her retirement in 1989.Gail had a soft spot in her heart for animals of all kinds. She was a gifted gardener, a gourmet cook, an avid bridge player and an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed opening the doors to her and Don's home where she took great pleasure in entertaining family and friends.
