Brenda Ann Dreisow's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Brenda AnnDreisow, age 61, of Charleston and formerly of Kent, Washington, passed away onSaturday, October 22, 2011 in the comfort of her home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28,2011 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 921 Madison Avenue in Charleston,Illinois with Father John Titus presiding. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to theMass. Services will also be held at a later date inKent, Washington with burial to follow in the Gethsemane Cemetery. Memorials in her honor may be made to theAmerican Cancer Society. Gifts may be lefton the memorial table at the Visitation or Funeral Mass or mailed to AdamsFuneral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920. Brenda was born May 16, 1950in Renton, Washington a daughter of the late Walter J. and Esther Mary(Sinclair) Dreisow. She is survived byher sisters, Beverly Foote and husband Dan and Barbara Dreisow, all ofCharleston; a nephew, Carl Foote and his companion Tom West of Chicago; twonieces, Karen Andsager and husband David and Susan Hara and husband Dan, all ofChampaign, Illinois; her great nieces and great nephews, Irene, Nathan and ZoeAndsager and Andrew and Matthew Hara. Inaddition to her parents she was preceded in death by her two brothers, AlbertDreisow and Ervin Dreisow. Brenda was a twenty-sevenyear employee of Airborne, now known as DHL, both in the Seattle and Houstonareas. She attained a Bachelors degreefrom Washington State University and was a United States Navy Veteran. Since moving to Charleston she has been afaithful member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Brenda was definitely anorthwest girl and enjoyed all of nature's beauty the area offered - thePacific Coast, the Olympic Mountains and Mt. Ranier were some of her favoritesites. The area was also favorable forhiking and snowshoeing, two of the activities which she so enjoyed. Brenda hiked with members of the EvergreenState Volksport Association. She alsoloved tending to her rose garden, photography and the many dachshunds sheraised over the years were near and dear to her heart. She loved her sisters dearly and wasappreciative of the tender care which they gave her. Brenda was a twenty yearcancer survivor and was a dedicated and devoted member of support groups forother cancer survivors. She also tookpart in many, many walks which helped to raise awareness and funding for cancerresearch. Brenda's kindness and concernfor others will be missed and she leaves a strong-willed determination and anever give up attitude as an example for those battling this disease and otherlife challenges.
