Bill Cloud's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Bill Cloud, age 92 of Charleston, passed away at Charleston Rehabilitation and Health Care Center on Wednesday, January 6, 2016. There will be no public visitation or services. A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Roselawn Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Bob Swickard officiating. It is requested that thoughtful donations in his honor be made to a church or charity of the donor's preference. Gifts may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Billie Max Cloud was born March 27, 1923 in Wilmot, Kansas to the late Will Thomas and Alma (Jones) Cloud. He married D. Ann Bell on August 31, 1947 and they shared nearly 65 years of marriage prior to her death on August 15, 2012. Bill is survived by his children, Steve Cloud and wife Cathy of Martinsville, IL, Delano Cloud and wife Sylvia of Katy, TX and Louise Neal and husband Mark of Williamsville, IL; 6 grandchildren, J.W. Cloud, Rose Cloud, Eric Cloud, Sophie Cloud, Zac Neal and Max Neal. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a brother, Blake Cochran. Bill faithfully and honorably served his country with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He attained his Bachelor's Degree from Southwestern College in Winfield, KS and both his Master's and Doctorate Degrees from the University of Wisconsin. Bill was committed to the field of education and to inspiring the youth who entered the doors of his classroom. He taught at Emporia State University in Kansas before accepting a position with Eastern Illinois University. Bill enjoyed a 27 year tenure with E.I.U. as a physics instructor and coordinator of the Pre-Engineering Department. Bill was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Charleston and was formerly a member of the Charleston Kiwanis and Charleston Masonic Lodge #35 A.F. & A.M. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed playing golf and bridge. Bill's friends will always remember him for his gracious kindness and his warm and friendly smile and his family will hold dear their many memories of his loving devotion for them.
