Betty Jean Stoner's Obituary
Betty Jean Stoner, age 97, of Charleston, IL passed away on February 16, 2025 at Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections of Memory Care in Charleston, IL.
Betty was born on November 24, 1927 to Dewey and Hulda (Boseker) Seibert in Mt. Carmel, IL. She married Robert A. "Stony" Stoner on December 19, 1945, in Charleston, IL. He passed away on February 12, 2021.
She is survived by four children, Paula J. Dennis of Haines City, FL, Susan K. (Jerry) Payne of Charleston, IL, Robert L. (Johann) Stoner of Atenes, Costa Rica, and Jody L. (Timothy) Thompson of Quincy, IL; two siblings, Donny (Nancy) Seibert of Mattoon, IL and Georgia (Rev. Irvan) Figgins of Toledo, IL; and her ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert A. "Stony" Stoner; daughter, Sarah Lee Stoner; son-in-law Richard Dennis; one grandchild, Jamie Lynn Terrell; and her parents, Dewey and Hulda Seibert.
Betty was born in Mt. Carmel, IL and grew up there and graduated high school. She moved with her family to Mattoon, and she met her future husband Stony at the Coles County Fair and together they shared 78 years of marriage. She was a stay-at-home housewife and she raised her children. Later in life she and her husband wintered in Florida. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, doing puzzles, reading and going to yard sales. Her family was very important to her, and she cherished spending time with them. She was a member of New Hope Church in Charleston, Illinois
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 19th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Irvin Figgins officiating at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Mattoon, IL.
