CHARLESTON, IL - Bert Lee Good, age 85 of Charleston, entered his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 while at Charleston Rehab and Skilled Nursing. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Memorial Service, honoring and celebrating his life, will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening with Doug Krabel officiating. Inurnment will be in the Newman Cemetery in Newman, Illinois at a later date. Donations in his honor may be made to Lions of Illinois Foundation - Camp Lions. Gifts may be left at the visitation/service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Bert was born November 3, 1933 in Newman, Illinois, to the late Bert A. and I. Lucille (Taylor) Good. He married A. Lucille "Lucy" Craig on September 20, 1952. In addition to Lucy, his wife of 66 years, his loving family includes three daughters; Judy (Chuck) Rutan of Trophy Club, Texas, Janet (Jack) Menser of Ashmore, Illinois and Linda (Ken) Strange of Charleston; six grandchildren, Jeff Rutan, Jon (Leanne) Rutan, Kara (Rick) Metzger, Chris Lee, Ryan Strange and Chad (Laura) Strange; two step-grandchildren, Josh (Alana) Menser and Nicki (Nick) Reiser; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia McDaniel of Paris, Illinois. Bert was a life-long meat cutter, a career that began when he was in Junior High School. Most will remember him as the Meat Department Manager at the Wilb Walkers Supermarket in Charleston. Bert was also the owner of Good's Advertising, supplying many local businesses with their advertising needs. Bert was an avid bowler, a love that he shared with Lucy, and one that they have passed on to their children and grandchildren. He was a member of the American Bowling Congress and served as secretary of the local chapter. He was also a member of the Charleston Moose Lodge #1388, the Charleston Jaycees and the Charleston Lions Club, receiving numerous awards throughout the years including Lion of the Year. As an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, family trips to games were often enjoyed and his television was always tuned in to a Cardinal game or an Illini sporting event. Bert was a loving husband and father, and a doting grandfather. His family will forever treasure their many fond memories of truly special times shared. Memorial ServiceThe Memorial Service celebrating the life of Bert Good was held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston with Mr. Doug Krabel officiating. A recorded selection of ""Daddy's Hands"" was played and vocalist, Cassandra VonBehrens sang ""Amazing Grace"" and was accompanied by pianist, Carolyn Bisby. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Newman Cemetery in Newman, Illinois.
