Barbara A. Peppo's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Barbara Ann Peppo, age 83 of Charleston and formerly of Westfield, Illinois, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston with Pastor Robert Reynolds officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral chapel for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Charleston. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Barbara was born on February 4, 1931 in Effingham, Illinois, a daughter of the late William B. and Winnie (Ashley) Driskell. She married Bert L. Peppo on March 19, 1991and he survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Douglas E. Bowlin and Daniel D. Bowlin and wife Rosemary, all of Mattoon and Todd J. Bowlin and wife Lydia of rural Charleston; three stepchildren, Kelly Miller and husband Mike of Huber Heights, Ohio; Angel Francis and husband Eddie of Deer Park, Texas and Brett Peppo and wife Mary Peyton of Concord, California; 7 grandchildren, Nicole, James, Jesse, Levi, Candice, Bill and Don; 4 step-grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Shawn and Samantha; and many very close friends. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers and a sister. Barbara was a 1949 graduate of Charleston High School and was employed for 28 years at Moore Business Forms in Charleston as a Customer Service Clerk. She was baptized at the age of 12 and has been a long time member of First Christian Church in Charleston. She was also a member of the Charleston VFW Ladies Auxiliary Paul McVey Post 1592. Barbara was a woman whose Christian faith guided her life and she studied her Bible daily. She enjoyed cross-stitching, reading and adding to her collection of castles. She was blessed with an artistic ability and has created many beautiful paintings. She also enjoyed the simple things such as long walks, the ocean, purple irises, her Doberman, "Raven" and her cat, "Toby" . Barbara was also fortunate to enjoy several close friendships, some which began as school classmates. Her and Bert's family was her greatest love in life and she so looked forward to holidays and family get-togethers where wonderful memories have been created. Barbara will be fondly and lovingly remembered.
