Barbara J. Joley's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Barbara Jean Joley, age 86 of Charleston, passed away in the comfort of her home, on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Funeral services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston with Reverend Dr. Bob Swickard officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery in Charleston. Thoughtful donations in her honor may be made to Lincolnland Hospice. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or service or mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Barbara was born May 4, 1930 in Springfield, Illinois, a daughter of the late David Frank and Irma (Nelson) Stout. She was married to Charles Joley for more than 30 years and they were blessed with three children. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Charles Joley III of Belleville, IL and David Joley of St. Clair Shores, MI; 4 grandchildren, Hailey Joley of Michigan and Charlie, Max and Andrew Joley and their mother, Agnes Ivers of Belleville; and her dear and special friend and caregiver, Laurel Hankins. Barbara was predeceased by her daughter, Kathy Joley and a sister, Frances Krimmel. Barbara was a Petersburg, Illinois high school graduate and furthered her education at the University of Illinois where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She went on to attain a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University. She taught Kindergarten in the Oakland School District and later at the E.I.U. Lab School. Following her teaching career, Barbara became a licensed real estate agent and was a realtor for several local brokers. Barbara was a longtime and faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Charleston. She was a woman who was lovingly devoted to her family and for a time was a caregiver for her daughter. She enjoyed her home and created a warm and inviting atmosphere for those who visited. Barbara was a marvelous cook and from her kitchen often came the aromas of deliciously prepared foods. Barbara was a polite and gracious woman who was always respectful of others and intent on doing things in the correct manner. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.Click to view Family Memorial Video.
