Barbara Conley (85) of Charleston passed away at home on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Barbara was born on August 28, 1940, in Vandalia, Illinois, to Irby and Lucille Lapington, and was the oldest of seven children. Barbara Lapington Read Obituary
I met Barb at Weight Watchers and we became good friends. Barb loved to share recipes and always liked to try new ones.
She had a wonderful personality and was always kind to everyone. One fond memory I have of Barb is when she would get her steps in by carrying one silverware one at time when she unloaded her dishwasher.
Barb will be greatly missed and I feel honored to have been her friend.

We moved to Charleston from Austin, Texas, in 2014. There was an unexpected two week delay before the moving truck delivered our things. We had three teenagers, two pets, and only a few items in our suitcases. Barbara and John brought over a folding table and chairs, a coffee pot, some pots and pans, and other items to help us manage during those two weeks! We felt so loved. Sadly, John passed away less than two months after we moved in, but Barbara's kindness remained until her passing. We are so grateful for the eleven years of knowing Barbara. Barb was the kindest, most thoughtful person I’ve ever known.i’ve only known her for about 8 years and met her through bridge. We had a lot in common and could talk for hours. Barb was a true friend and I miss her. Brenda Wilson
I only met Barbara a few times when she visited her son Stu and Daughter in law Sara in Fayetteville, NC. I remember her as spunky and quick witted. I wish the entire family peace and light at this difficult time.
