Barbara L. Chaplin's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Barbara Louise Chaplin, age 76 of Charleston, was in the comforting presence of her family when she went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 12, 2015 while at the Odd Fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating her life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral chapel with Pastor Ray Finney officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery located in Cumberland County, north of Greenup. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to Wisconsin Christian Radio or to BounceBack, a not-for-profit organization which Barb's grandson is involved with, and whose efforts are to provide sporting equipment and opportunities for children in need. Gifts may be left during the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. Barbara was born November 19, 1938 in Charleston, IL to the late Russell Dean and Mary (Phillips) Conley. She is survived by two loving and devoted children, Tammy Chaplin-Batha and husband Jeff of St. Louis, MO and Anthony "Tony" Chaplin and wife Cindy of Carmel, IN; a grandson, Max Anthony Chaplin of Carmel; 3 step-grandchildren; a brother, Dan Conley and wife Bea of Charleston; a sister, Linda Brown and husband Merle of Ft. Wayne, IN; a sister-in-law, Connie Conley of Herrin, IL; several nieces and nephews and their families; and a dear friend, Gerald Matheny of Charleston. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Lou Chaplin and a brother, Doyle Conley. Barbara was a 40 plus year member of the Salisbury Church in Hutton and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was self-employed and owned and operated her own cleaning business for more than 30 years. Barbara enjoyed flower gardening and lawn work. Her flower gardens and landscaping were immaculate as was her home that she so enjoyed caring for. Barbara was a woman whose deep and abiding faith guided her life which always exemplified her values and integrity. Her independent nature was accompanied by her warm and endearing smile and extreme kindness and consideration for others. Her unquestionable love and devotion for her family was felt in all that she did and she shared a special bond with her children and grandson.
