Barbara June Bell's Obituary
SANDWICH, IL - Barbara June Bell, age 90 of Sandwich, Illinois and formerly of Charleston passed away while at her Sandwich Rehabilitation and Health Care Center home on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday immediately following the visitation with Steven Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to a charity of the donor's preference. Gifts may be left on the memorial table at the visitation or service or may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. June, as she was affectionately known to many, was born on June 14, 1924 in Seven Hickory Township located in Coles County, Illinois and was a daughter of the late E. Floyd and Mary Ruth (Lutz) Adair. She married Kenneth Roy Bell on Feb. 3, 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1991. She is survived by her four children, David Bell of Somonauk, IL, Gary Bell and wife Donna of Hardy, AR, Tony Bell of Boynton Beach, FL, and Shirley Bell of Sandwich, IL; three grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Henrichs, Steven (Christie) Bell and Andy (Amber) Bell; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia (David) Scruggs of Mt. Vernon, IL, Joanne Lawyer of Charleston, Nancy Lawson of Sun City, CA; three brothers, Jack Adair and Jerry (Lelia) Adair of Charleston and John (Carol) Adair of Morris, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Hattie Adair; four sisters, Esther Watts, Jean Carlyle, Lorraine Kass and Marian Piersma and three brothers, Gerry, Richard and Joe Adair. June attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sheridan, Illinois with her son, David. She devoted her life to her family as a wife, mother and homemaker. She also assisted others with cleaning and household chores and helped with the dairy cattle when they lived in northern Illinois. June enjoyed working the daily crossword puzzles and was also a seamstress. June's life was her family and she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and their fond memories of her will always be treasured.
