Barbara Jean Abrams' Obituary
Barbara Jean Abrams, age 95, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa, Kansas.
She was born on October 6, 1929, in Rardin, Illinois, to Roshen and Oather (James) Taylor. On June 24, 1956, Barbara married the love of her life, Claude Eugene Abrams, in Hindsboro, IL. They shared 63 wonderful years of marriage before Claude’s passing on April 12, 2020.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Debra (Stephen) Justice of Gardner, Kansas; one grandchild, Amanda Sewell; one great grandchild, Thomas Eugene Sewell; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Taylor and Mary Taylor, three nieces and 5 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Claude, and her three brothers, Richard, James, and Calvin Taylor.
Barbara dedicated over 25 years of service to St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island, Illinois, where she worked in the dietary department. She was known for her strong work ethic, kind heart, and warm presence.
In her later years, Barbara enjoyed simple pleasures—working on puzzles, playing card games like Kings in the Corner, and Bingo. She loved spending time with her loved ones. Her quiet strength and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, Illinois. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Rick Emrich officiating. Burial will take place at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston.
