B. Delores Knott's Obituary
Beulah Delores Krick Knott, 96, of Charleston departed this earth peacefully Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Mattoon Rehabilitation Center. Delores was born December 4, 1927, at the Krick family home, North Muddy Township, Jasper County IL, the daughter of William Carl Bernard and Mary Ann (Tanner) Krick. Delores grew up on a Centennial family farm outside of Montrose, Illinois. She graduated from Effingham High School in 1945.
Delores married James (Jay) Francis Knott on December 23, 1947, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wheeler, IL. Delores and Jay both graduated with Bachelor of Science Degrees in Business Education from Eastern Illinois State College in 1949. Delores joined Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority while at Eastern.
While raising her family, Delores received her Master of Science degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University, Major in Business Education in 1970. Teaching career highlights include Lawrenceville High School 1949-53, Southern Illinois University Vocational Technical Institute 1953-54, Bloomington High School Adult Program 1954-57, Malta High School 1966-67, Lake Land Community College 1970-79, Eastern Illinois University Computer Center 1974-79, and Eastern Illinois University College of Business 1979-92.
Delores was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wheeler, IL and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charleston, IL. She was a member of the Charleston Country Club, Effingham Farm Bureau, and a very active member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Alumni. Delores was a skilled Bridge player, enjoyed puttering around on the golf course, and coffee with friends. She avidly attended EIU's Doudna Fine Arts Center, enjoyed local conversations and loved traveling internationally. Delores also took pleasure in staying active on the family farm, planting knock out roses around her home, and mowing the lawn on her trusty riding lawn mower.
Survivors include her daughters, Jennifer Knott of Charleston IL, Julie Knott Henderson (husband, Jon) of The Woodlands, TX and Nancy Knott (husband, Alan Greenberg) of Naperville, IL; six grandchildren, Kendra Henderson Janowski (husband, Tim) of Austin, TX, Natalie Henderson Runde (husband, Kevin) of Minneapolis, MN, Vreni Henderson of Commerce City, CO, Alexis Ardovitch of Raleigh, NC, Nick Ardovitch of Darien, IL and Michael Ardovitch of Huntsville, AL and one niece, Tamera Bragg McEachern (husband, Bill) of Pensacola, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary (Tanner) Krick, husband, Jay, and sisters, Lucille Alvina (Krick) Poehler of Mahomet IL and Berdena Maxine (Krick) Bragg of Pensacola, FL.
A private service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 with Pastor Zandra Anderson and Reverand Dean Herberts officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Paul Luteran Cemetery in Wheeler, IL.
