Alesandra Joyce Perez's Obituary
Alesandra Joyce “Sandy” Perez, age 85, of Charleston, IL, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL. She was born on June 10, 1940, in Terre Haute, IN, to Paul Cline and Louise (Overby) Rice. She married Rick Perez on October 4, 1991, in Houston, TX, and they shared many wonderful years together before his passing in May 2007.
Sandy is survived by her four children, Terry (Darryl) Trigg, Greg (Barbara) Catron, Paul Catron, and Lynn (Kevin) O’Brien, all of Charleston; and by her grandchildren, Wyatt Snyder, Samantha Patrick, Leandra Trigg, and Eli White. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one grandchild, Madison White.
Sandy spent her early years in Marshall, where she graduated from high school. She went on to attend Eastern Illinois University and later made her home in Charleston for 20 years, where she married Jerry Catron and welcomed four children. She eventually moved to Texas, where she built a successful and active life. In Houston, she co-owned Diversity Installations and previously worked for Gem Contracting Co. Sandy brought commitment, skill, and practical determination to everything she did. After Rick’s passing, she returned to Charleston to be closer to her family, who remained at the center of her world.
Sandy had a spirited and curious nature. She loved reading murder mystery books, watching mystery movies, shopping, tending to her garden, and hunting for treasures at garage sales. She had a talent for transforming her home into a cozy, carefully curated reflection of her personality. Sandy had a special love for cats and always found joy in the simple moments that made life meaningful.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL with Pastor Jared Von Kamp officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston, IL.
