Aileen Lee's Obituary
CHARLESTON, IL - Aileen Lee, age 87 of rural Charleston, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2019 while at Mattoon Health Care. Her family will host a reception, celebrating her life, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Salisbury Church located at 2190 County Highway 5, southeast of Charleston, with a Time of Sharing special memories beginning at 2:00 p.m. Memorial gifts in her honor may be made to the Douglas-Hart Nature Center and mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.
Aileen was born December 3, 1932 in Coles County, Illinois, a daughter of the late Clarence "Bob" and Maurine (Moore) Field. She married Ralph D. Lee on April 8, 1950 and shared 56 years of marriage prior to his death on May 6, 2006. She is survived by her children, Glendia Crease and husband Ken "Wrinkle" and Wayne Lee and wife Marsha, all of rural Charleston and Angela Grissom and husband Terry of rural Greenup; seven grandchildren, Gaspar Davila (Pai), Robert Haskins (Holly), Mandi Walters (Brent), Nathan Allan Grissom, Bethany Stewart (Trevor), Kevin Lee (Stacie) and Justin Lee; two step-grandchildren, Carl "Tad" Crease and Amanda Crease; eleven great-grandchildren, Alexander Davila, Kholten Davila, RosaLynn Davila, Micael Haskins, Eliana Stewart, Josiah Stewart, Jeremiah Stewart, Asher Stewart, Jacob Roe, Caleb Walters and Grace Walters; and a step-great-grandchild, Monica. Aileen was also preceded in death by a grandson, Bryan Lee and a sister, Barbara Jo Field.
Aileen was a graduate of Eastern State High School. She devoted her life to being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker for her family. Her interests and hobbies reflected her love for nature and the outdoors. She appreciated and always wanted to maintain the grandeur and beauty of the many types of trees located on their Hutton Township farm. She loved gardening, raising both vegetables and beautiful flowers, and watching the birds from her porch, especially the hummingbirds. Aileen enjoyed traveling with Ralph and experiencing the beauty of the land in other locations. Aileen will be missed but lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
