William Henry Adkins

MATTOON, IL – William Henry Adkins, 66, of Ashmore, Illinois passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, IL. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Tate Cemetery. Memorial donations may be to the American Cancer Society or the Wounded Warrior Project and left at the visitation/service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL  61920.

Henry was born December 7, 1955, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky the son of Samuel and Delcia (Cross) Adkins. He married Debbie Jayne in Lafayette, Tennessee on August 23, 1989, and she survives. He is survived by his wife; four children, Chris Adkins (Eric Johnson) of Robinson, Illinois, Amanda Adkins (Kenny Ballew) of Robinson, Illinois, Jimbob Orndorff of Metcalf, Illinois, and Jamie (Les) Gent of Villa Grove, Illinois; four grandchildren, Hope Adkins, Kody Ballew, Delcia Gent, and Daniel Gent; one brother, Robert Adkins; and one sister, Linda Seaton. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Danny Adkins, and Tim Adkins; and two sisters, Joan Mattingly and Sue Ingram.

Henry had worked at Neal Tire in Charleston for 25 plus years before retiring. He enjoyed his time fishing, camping, and watching college basketball. He had a love for all animals and had a special place in his heart for his dog, Fifi. Henry’s family was his everything, and he is going to be dearly missed.
