CHARLESTON, IL – Thomas M. Edwards, age 80 of Charleston, died on November 11, 2020 at his home. Survivors include his wife, Audrey; son, Matthew (Sandi) also of Charleston; daughter, Mary of Wilmette, Illinois and her sons, Michael and Miles; and his sisters, Kathleen Nottage (Dick Agnitsch) of Leland, North Carolina; and Marjorie Manning (Walter) of Bonnet Shores, Rhode Island. He was predeceased by his parents, stepfather, and three sisters, Judith, Jane, and Mary.
After earning a B.A. in psychology from Brown University, an M.A. in educational psychology from Bucknell, and a doctorate in educational research from Harvard University, he first taught courses in education at Boston University and then became Director of Institutional Research for several colleges and universities in the East and in Illinois. He retired to Charleston in 2006. Family members called him “Good Tom” and remember his devotion to his wife, son, daughter, and grandsons. Friends recall his “wonder and joy” when the children were born.
Tom’s family will meet at a later date to honor his memory.
