Shane Cox Obituary

Shane Cox, 46, of Charleston, Illinois passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 29, 2022, at Home Church in Charleston, Illinois with Pastor Darrell Phillips officiating. Please send all flowers to Home Church. Adams Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Memorials in his honor may be made out to Adams Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses and left at the service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL  61920.

Shane was born August 12, 1975, in Charleston, Illinois the son of Russell Dean and Debra Ann (Hillis) Cox. He is survived by his daughter, Alyson Cox; three sons, Scott (Kelsie) Richey, Zane Cox, and Colin Fields; mothers, Debra Ann Anderson, and Kathy Long; four grandchildren, Aubrie Lundmark, Eygon Richey, Daedric Richey, and Gibson Cox Richey; two brothers, Shawn (Lauren Moddox) Cox and Abraham (Kyndra) Cox; two sisters, Shana (Dennis) Foxx and Crystal Cox; the love of his life Jenny Fields; special friends, Kevin Lewis, Robert Hughes, Chris Shafer, Guy Apple, Brian Rickleman, Jennifer Baker, and Jennifer Black; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and the mother of his children, Carol Frazier. He was preceded in death by fathers, Russell Cox and Donald Long; grandfathers, Wade Hillis, and Robert Cox; grandmothers, Dorothy Hillis and Faye Cox; and godfather, Mark Temples.

Shane worked at the Coles County Sheriff Department in telecommunications. He had a passion for music. From being a karaoke king and singing rock and southern country rock. To making guitars and being well known in the area as part of a band called Thrown Together. In addition to music, he enjoyed guns, fishing, motorcycles, and truck driving. He could fix and do anything he set his mind to. He loved his dog “Dory” and had a special place in his heart for his children and family. Shane was well-loved and will be greatly missed.
