Ruth Craig Obituary

CHARLESTON, IL – Ruth Ann Craig, of Charleston passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.  Memorial service information is to follow.  Memorial donations in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL  61920.

Ruth Ann was born in Charleston, Illinois on December 7, 1953, the daughter of Virgil and Mary Ruth (Driskell) Craig.  She was a Charleston High School graduate and worked at Walmart and at Charleston’s County Market.  Ruth is survived by numerous cousins including Dan Bowlin, Doug Bowlin, Todd (Lydia) Bowlin, William (Karen) Driskell, James Bowlin, Jesse Bowlin, Levi Bowlin, Jane Craig-Lemons, JoAnn “Cissy” Driskell, Donnie, Billy, and many dear, close friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her aunt Barbara Driskell-Peppo, and grandparents William B. and Winnie Ashley Driskell.

Ruth Ann was a member of First Christian Church and of Charleston’s Loyal Order of the Moose, where she enjoyed playing Bingo games.  She worked at County Market’s deli, where she was the keeper of recipes, and she enjoyed cooking and baking so much that she did so in her free time, especially with old family recipes.  She amassed a good collection of salt and pepper shakers, and enjoyed games, both board games and those on-line. Taking pictures of her cousins and retelling old family stories were just two ways that she expressed her love for her family.  Ruth Ann loved to laugh and make others laugh, and for this she will especially be missed.
