CHARLESTON, IL– Michael Ross Osterday, age 59 of Charleston, entered his Heavenly Home on Saturday, January 9, 2021 while at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Visitation will be held for family and friends on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston. A Graveside Inurnment Service to be attended by his family will be held at a later time at the Cochran's Grove Cemetery located in Shelby County southeast of Windsor, Illinois. Michael was born December 19, 1961 in Mattoon, Illinois and is the son of Roger and Doris (Daniels) Osterday. He married Jodie Andersen on July 23, 1994 in Charleston. Michael’s greatest joys in life were serving God and loving and supporting his family. This includes Jodie, his wife of 26 years, his daughter, Rebekah and his son, Ross; his father, Roger Osterday of Toledo, Illinois; a brother, Stephen Osterday of Mattoon; a nephew, Steve Osterday, also of Mattoon; a dear family friend, Betty Toops, of Neoga; and numerous friends, co-workers, and others whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Osterday who died in 2006.
Michael was a 1980 graduate of Neoga High School and was a part of the FFA program for all four years. He possessed a deep and abiding faith in God. As a part of the local body of Christ, Michael was a member of Charleston Family Worship Center, Charleston Community Church, and Faith Builders Church. He enrolled in correspondence courses through Rhema Bible Training Center and Supernatural Ministries Training Institute (SMTI). He served as a Children’s Pastor for many years and along with Jodie served in the local church in many capacities. As an evangelist, Michael was passionate in his desire to bring and share the good news of the Gospel to everyone.
Michael was employed at R. R. Donnelley/LSC Communications in Mattoon for 40 years (1980 to 2020) where he established many long and lasting friendships. He will truly be missed by his loving family and wealth of friends.
