Michael Henry "Mike" Miller

Michael Henry “Mike” Miller, age 86, of Charleston, IL passed away at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL.  He was born September 13, 1937 in Altoona, PA the son of Charles Miller and Bernadette McMullen Miller.  On May 13, 1961 he married Linda Kerr in Altoona, PA.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Linda Miller of Charleston, IL; daughters, Karen Stehle and Valerie Miller; grandson, Maxwell Stehle (Alex); great granddaughter, Jaklyn Stehle; brother, Patrick Miller (Susan); sister-in-law, Susan Miller and several nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward Miller.

Mike was a graduate of Altoona Catholic High School, where in his younger years he was an outstanding basketball player.  He continued his education at Juniata College in Huntington, PA earning his Bachelor of Science degree.  Mike retired as Vice President of Finance at Blaw Knox Construction Equipment Company in Mattoon, IL.  He was a member of the Mattoon Country Club and a faithful member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Charleston, IL.  Mike enjoyed golfing and traveling.  His number one priority was always his family; he loved any time he could spend with his wife, daughters and his faithful companion, dog Scooter.  Mike enjoyed taking Scooter on walks and everyone in the neighborhood knew Scooter.  

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 921 Madison Ave., Charleston, IL with Father Braden Maher officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Altoona, PA at a later date.
