Matthew Berry Obituary

CHARLESTON, IL – Matthew Patrick Berry, 50, of Charleston, Illinois passed Monday, March 7, 2022, at his home. No services are planned at this time. Adams Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Matt was born January 31, 1972, in Centralia, Illinois the son of James and Judy (Wilkinson) Berry.  He married his high school sweetheart Michelle L. Rollinson on December 14, 1991. They spent over 30 years together.  He is survived by his wife; sisters Michelle Pennington and Susan Garrison, and brother Chris Berry, all of Centralia. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Matt graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1995 with a Political Science degree. He worked as a sales trainer for many years, but was just starting a new career in UX design and digital marketing.

Matt was a prolific singer songwriter who played at venues across central and southern Illinois for decades.  He was an avid Beatles and Monkees fan, authoring a book titled: Art for Television’s Sake: The Comedy of The Monkees.

 Matt was also a huge fan of pop culture and comedy, writing and hosting The Comedy Nerdcast podcast. He created various online communities that are still loved by those who have formed lasting friendships there.  Bringing people together was something he excelled at and enjoyed.

Matt was the greatest cat dad to his two very beloved kitties Astrid and Ember.

He was a brilliant, creative, exceptionally talented man, and he is going to be very missed.
