Mary Ethridge Obituary

CHARLESTON, IL – Mary Fleur E. Ethridge, age 58 of Charleston and formerly of Macomb, Illinois, passed away in the comfort of her home on Monday, October 21, 2019. Her family will host a visitation from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Charleston Community Church located at 2360 Shawnee Drive in Charleston. Her Celebration of Life Service will begin at 3:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation, with Pastors Bill Hall and Dave Dolan officiating. Donations in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society and mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920.

Mary was born January 21, 1961 in New York, a daughter of Rolla and Ulla (Rohau) Foley. She married Randy Lee Ethridge on September 27, 1980 in Villa Grove, Illinois. Surviving is Randy, her loving and devoted husband of 39 years; four children, Katie Ethridge of Orange Park, Florida, Jenny Waldrop, Michael Ethridge and wife Daylea, and Annie Banton and husband Gideon, all of Charleston. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Nautica Long, Kahliq Wilkins, Nevaeh Ethridge, Jayla Ethridge, Nakenzie Waldrop, Euriah Banton; and her mother, Ulla Foley of Charleston. She was preceded in death by her father.

Mary was a graduate of Macomb High School and attained her bachelor’s degree in Family Consumer Science at Eastern Illinois University. Mary was a caseworker with Kids Hope United, now known as One Hope United. For many years Mary and her family were members of the Charleston Community Church family, but more recently had attended New Life Church in Sullivan, Illinois. She was actively involved in the Walk to Emmaus global ministry.

Mary was a lover of music, a singer, and a collector of bears – predominantly Pooh Bears. She will always be known for her generous nature and her genuine love for others. Her home was inviting and she welcomed all who came through her door. Mary’s life was a reflection of her faith and her love for her Lord and Savior. Memories of Mary will always be treasured by her family and a wealth of friends.
