Judith "Judy" Ann (Bennett) Goodman

Judith “Judy” Ann Goodman, 78, of Taylorville, Illinois formerly of Charleston, Illinois passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Taylorville, Illinois. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial will be in the Winkleblack Cemetery. Memorials in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Christian County Animal Control and left at the visitation/service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL  61920.

Judy was born January 4, 1944 in Paris, Illinois the daughter of James Gordon and Anna Jean (Morgan) Bennett. She married the love of her life Philip Goodman on August 3, 1963 in Owaneco, Illinois. She is survived by her loving husband; two sons, Philip Christopher (Debbie) Goodman, and Nelson Scott (Kelly) Goodman; six grandchildren, Jennifer Goodman, Logan (Mackenzie) Goodman, Stacy (Michael) Alfredson, Cody Long, Clayton (Molly) Smith, and Hunter (Alyssa) Smith; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Dalton, Amelia, Cooper, Isabella, Elliott Drew, and Maddox; sister, Janet Adkins; brother, Jim (Dorothy) Bennett; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Judy graduated from Charleston High School the class of 1962.  She was a postmaster in Owaneco, Illinois for several years before retiring in 2002. Judy was a proud member of the Owaneco Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, art, reading, motorcycle trips, and traveling. She had a love for all her dogs, but Shep was her favorite. Judy never met a stranger and could talk with anyone. Her love she shared with her family and grandchildren is going to be dearly missed.
